"Yellowbacks refer to cheap, 19th century British literature sold at railway bookstalls with the covers sensationalized to attract buyers. Topics included a variety of subjects such as detective stories, romance, sports, medicine and war. The term yellowback came from the yellow-glazed illustrated covers."
